About French Chew Co
French Chew, a chewy nougat-like candy, was developed by Claus Doscher in 1896 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Claus introduced French Chew, capitalizing on the taffy craze that swept through France. The time-honored techniques, traditions, and recipe of utilizing small batches made in the same copper kettles have been passed down for nearly 130 years. French Chew is a favorite among candy lovers. While the company's history is rooted in Cincinnati, Ohio, French Chew has become a beloved treat enjoyed by people worldwide. The manufacturing of French Chew is now located in the Historical District of New Richmond, Ohio.
