About megalucha
The History of Megalucha Megalucha was born in the sun-drenched border city of San Diego, California, in 2012, from one simple but powerful idea: bring the soul, color, and craftsmanship of Mexico directly to retailers across the United States — without the middlemen, without the compromises, and with the kind of scale that lets small shops and big chains alike offer authentic Mexican treasures to their customers. The founder (a lifelong lover of Mexican culture who grew up just miles from the Tijuana border) had spent years traveling through Puebla, Jalisco, Michoacán, and Oaxaca. Everywhere he went, he saw master artisans — families who had been hand-throwing Talavera pottery for generations, weavers creating vibrant blankets and textiles on wooden looms, potters shaping barro negro and Talavera clay, and mask-makers stitching the legendary Lucha Libre masks that scream passion, color, and lucha spirit. He also saw the frustration: these incredible pieces rarely made it north of the border in consistent wholesale quantities, at fair prices, or with reliable delivery. So he decided to change that. He chose the name **Megalucha** deliberately. “Mega” for the big, bold vision — wholesale quantities that could supply hundreds of stores at once. “Lucha” for the fighting spirit of Lucha Libre (those iconic masks were among the very first products he ever carried) and for the daily lucha of the artisans he wanted to support. The name became a promise
