Rooted in Cut Off, Galliano, and Jennings, Louisiana, Pitre's Handcrafted is the next chapter of a 50-year legacy. Since 1970, my parents shaped the local alligator trade with Louisiana Bayou Bites. As they prepare to retire, my partner, Cody, and I are taking the reins. While earning my Business Administration degree at Nicholls State University, I’m leading our artisan shop with a fresh, inclusive vision. Authentically Cajun, everything we build is “crafted in light”—welcoming to all. We specialize in custom orders; if you have a vision, we can build it. Our woodworking is entirely hands-on. We harvest red, sinker, blue, and regular cypress, red cedar, pine, and black walnut to build custom kitchenware, roux paddles, cutting boards, wood signs, and pine beer can openers. We honor our roots using my great-grandfather’s reclaimed nutria-boards. Every detail is fire-burned by hand by Cody and me. No lasers—just fire and focus. Our alligator taxidermy and leathercraft follow this tradition. My parents preserve hides and partial alligator heads cut flat in half in Jennings, while Cody and I craft in Cut Off and Galliano. We skin gators ourselves for wallets, belts, custom leather Bible covers, hat tags, and jewelry. We supply unique oddities like alligator paw necklaces, back scratchers, jawbone knives, and hand-strung fossilized teeth. 100% handmade. 100% Louisiana.
