About Independent Puppy

Every Independent Puppy design begins with a brush dipped in watercolor and a spark of curiosity. Founded by Maine artist Katherine Messenger in 2024, this boutique studio brings paper and home goods to life with original illustrations and thoughtful design. From sticker sheets to tea towels, Katherine creates each piece of art by hand and oversees every step of the process—from concept to production—to ensure consistent quality and artistic integrity. Made sustainably in the USA, her illustrated goods are equal parts whimsical and elegant and highlight the joys of coastal and lakeside living. An emerging favorite among gift shops, art-forward boutiques, bookshops, and museums, Independent Puppy delivers handmade beauty on useful, high-quality products to New England and beyond. Katherine also creates bespoke illustrations and products for stores and brands; feel free to message her for more information and a link to a portfolio of custom work.Read their story
