About Compassionate Kitchen

We are Jessica and Jon Crane, founders of Compassionate Kitchen. Like many vegans, we spent years searching for products we could truly trust—food that was both plant-based and organic. Too often, we found one or the other, but rarely both. When we learned we were expecting our daughter that gap became impossible to ignore. We began thinking about the kind of food we wanted in our home and the world we hoped to raise her in. We wanted baking mixes that felt familiar and comforting—like the ones our moms used growing up—but made in a healthier, kinder way. So we decided to create the brand we couldn’t find. Compassionate Kitchen was born to make pantry staples that are always vegan, always organic, and always sustainable. Inspired by childhood memories of baking and years of developing our own plant-based recipes, we set out to create mixes that are easy to use, genuinely delicious, and accessible to everyone—from first-time bakers to busy parents. All of our products are certified organic and certified vegan, made locally in Asheville, North Carolina, with thoughtfully sourced ingredients, including organic flour from North Carolina. Sustainability is built into every decision we make—our packaging will always be compostable or recyclable, because we believe good food should be kind to people, animals, and the planet. Compassionate Kitchen exists to make everyday baking easier, better, and more compassionate.Read their story
