About Bone Doctors' BBQ

Bone Doctors' BBQ was founded by Dr. David Heilbronner and Dr. Bruce Wilhelmsen, two orthopedic surgeons from Charlottesville, Virginia, who shared a passion for cooking. Their journey began with a homemade smoker and a neighbor’s basting sauce recipe, which they meticulously refined over the years. This dedication led to the creation of an edgy line of barbecue sauces that blend savory spices with natural ingredients—free from preservatives and artificial additives. Their sauces gained popularity, even helping fund a soccer team’s trip to Europe through sales at local games. Today, as the new stewards of Bone Doctors' BBQ, we’re honored to carry on the legacy of a brand you can always rely on. While only one of the team is an orthopedic surgeon now, like David and Bruce, we all share their passion for creating something extraordinary. Every bottle of sauce we make reflects our commitment to quality—because our customers deserve nothing less. Our vision is to elevate the art of grilling and everyday cooking. Whether you're smoking meat for 6 hours or whipping up dinner in 15 minutes, our sauces are already 'doctored up' and ready to go. Just shake, twist, and enjoy. Read their story
