The brand began unexpectedly during a conversation about life’s next steps after the founder spent more than two decades working as a nurse. That same night, the business, name, logo, and recipe came to be, followed a week and a half later by its first online sales. Though the founder had never previously used social media, she immersed herself in learning digital marketing and has since grown the brand online. SugarBean Candy was recognized internationally in 2025 as a Finalist in two categories at the International Food Innovation Awards in both the Best Artisan Product and Best Confectionery Product categories, and later won Best Coffee-Flavored Food Product at the World Coffee Innovation Awards.
