About VK Energy Bar

I grew up playing competitive soccer and dreamed of going pro. An athlete through and through. Then I signed up for a school play, shockingly landed the lead, and got signed by an agent in the audience. I was 14. At 15 I landed a lead in a pilot shooting in Toronto. I moved out and never moved back. The pressure to be skinny was everywhere, and I had an athlete's mindset in a place where food wasn't valued the same. At 19, after years of being told to lose weight, change my teeth and lower my voice, I took a break. Backpacked Europe alone, hopped hostels, read about nutrition, peeled apples in the backs of kitchens for free. On a train out of Paris I sat next to a chef. That conversation redirected my life. No culinary school. Six months staging, then second-hand cookbooks read front to back. First chef job at almost 21. Almost twenty years cooking for Hollywood — for people carrying the pressure I left. The cooking came second. VK Energy Bar is that philosophy. Nutrition first.Read their story
